This last weekend we celebrated Asher’s first birthday with a space-themed birthday party!
It is so hard to believe our little dude is one year old! It doesn’t feel like nearly 365 days since I entered into the world of motherhood.
These last 11+ months have been some of the hardest and most wonderful of my life. But beyond all the mushy mom stuff (ha!) I have been excited to celebrate Little Man’s first birthday!
Having never thrown a first birthday, I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted to do for his “theme” but the hubs is a big fan of space so we decided to that would be a perfect fit. And considering our guest of honor still poops in his pants, he didn’t put up much of a fight. Details of the party were kept simple.

We started a new tradition this year where we bought a book for Asher’s collection and had all the guests sign.
The hope is to add a new book each birthday and overtime his collection will grow with meaningful messages from family and friends. For this year we chose “There is No Place Like Space” by Dr. Seuss.

Cupcakes were purchased at the store and I placed handmade toppers on each. For Asher’s smash cake I recreated a sugar-free banana cake recipe I found here.

Since most of the kiddos invited to the party were older than Asher we had toys and easy to do crafts available to make as they wanted. As you can see below the table got quite a few visitors. Activities included an alien mask, picture frames, and space themed coloring pages.

The day was filled with good food, cupcakes, friends, family, and a tiny baby boy who began his journey to toddlerville.
