With Halloween being on a week day, this weekend just before was sure to be packed with fun! Our fun started on Friday with Pumpkin Patch day at Asher’s school. I was able to volunteer with the pumpkin guts station. Surprisingly kids were not all that interested in playing in the insides of a pumpkin. Asher was able to visit the “patch” and pick his own pumpkin.

Friday night we finally carved our pumpkins! This might be the latest we’ve waited to carve before so there might be jack-o-lanterns on our porch until Thanksgiving!

Asher thought eating the slimy goo was hilarious. Ellery…not so much!

Saturday we ventured to our town’s Halloween Town Festival. I absolutely love our town so much! A close friend of ours refers to it as a real life Stars Hallow, and after days like Saturday I have to agree.

Our town loves festivals and Saturday did not disappoint. Throughout the town you could see kids in costumes, local business were set up for trick or treating, and there was a magic show on the courthouse square. The library set up fun Frankenstein games and crafts and the local florist had pumpkin painting set up for kids. Our little crew had a blast and Asher even got to help in the magic show!

Sunday our church had their fall festival and trunk or treat. The kiddos received so much candy they couldn’t even carry their own buckets. The festival included a costume contest, bouncy houses, and face painting.

Asher’s preK is through our church so many of the kids from school were at the festival and it was so fun watching Asher run off with his friends. At one point the hubs was looking around trying to find him when suddenly a blur of kids ran by and he heard “Hi Dad!”. It was a glimpse into our future and it was a lot of fun to see.

The weekend ended with a very tired paleontologist and little witch but our hearts were so full! These are the reasons I love the holidays so much!
How was your weekend? Did your family have any fun Halloween events this weekend?
